Even though the game of Pickleball has been around since the mid-sixties, I really wasn’t all that familiar with what it actually is or how it’s played. If you’re like me and feel out of the Pickleball loop, here’s a quick overview!
Pickleball is:
- OVERSIZED ping pong!
- A court sport best described as half way between tennis and ping-pong played with special Pickleball paddles.
- A fun game played on a badminton sized court with a tennis sized net lowered to 34 inches at the centre.
- A racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis played with two, three or four players.
- Played with a ball similar to a wiffle ball, but slightly smaller.
- A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels and athletic ability levels.
Pickleball has very simple rules – just use a paddle to keep the perforated plastic ball going back and forth over a net until somebody slips up!
It’s easy for beginners to learn and play, but can also develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
