Don’t ignore heel pain

Heel pain is a very common running injury among runners characterized by a sharp pain in the heel and sometimes in the arch of the foot.

Heel pain usually resolves on its own with conservative treatment and by reducing your run volume or resting your aching heel. Another commonly recommended treatment is to change shoes. A good way to test your shoes for stability is to turn them upside down, grab the toe and the heel and bend them. If they fold in the middle it’s possible they may have contributed to the pain.

An injury can be devastating if ignored so most of all don’t train through the pain as this tends to make this type of injury worse.
